Zah! Jazz Workshop 2016

DSC_6048 copy Zah! Jazz Workshop, gives young people ages 10-19 the unique opportunity to focus on jazz, make friends in music, and receive training in voice, piano, dance, and theater. Includes a one time registration fee of $25 per family.

By participating in the  Zah! Jazz Workshop, you will…

  • Discover the roots of jazz in America
  • Explore essential jazz elements such as
    • Syncopation
    • Community
    • Improvisation
    • Rhythm
    • Making a soulful sound.

The workshop features teaching artists Eli Yamin, Shireen Dickson, Jeannette LoVetri.

group 5 MedWe will meet for 12 Mondays beginning April 4 with the following schedule:

4-5 PM
All students select either tap dance or group piano lessons.

5-6 PM
All students learn songs and dances from Message From Saturn and build a rigorous technical foundation in movement, singing, and theatrical expression applying jazz principles.

6-7:30 PM
Select soloists rehearse and receive specialized instruction, including private voice lessons.

We will rehearse to reenact scenes from The Jazz Drama Program musical, Message From Saturn, a space odyssey about how three teens save the galaxy by learning to sing the blues to perform in a culminating Final Performance in June.
